Dear Students,

Some of you have asked me about the quiz on Tuesday. There is a description in the syllabus, but the basic idea is that you are able to apply concepts, understand concepts, critique concepts, and illustrate them. I'm not interested in pure memorization of facts and lists of features. I want you to USE the knowledge you acquired and are able to put it into practice. I may ask you to interpret a fragment from the textbook/supplementary articles. I may ask you to take a stance about any of the different definitions of culture and justify you opinion. Or, I may ask you to explain/interpret/solve an intercultural critical incident through any of the concepts/ideas that we have covered so far. I hope this gives you a sense of what the quiz will consist of.
The reading that is due tomorrow is also included in the quiz. BUT, any questions that I may include about it (if I include them) will be geared to SIMPLY check that you have done the reading.
Daniel

Hey class!

I know this is late but I am scheduled to present on Thursday, April 30th but will be outside of Madrid and unable to attend class that day. Is anybody that is presenting on Tuesday, May 5th willing to switch with me? I would appreciate it greatly and my apologizes again for not asking earlier!

Thank you,

Hamad Al-Khamees

Never mind! I spoke to Dani this afternoon and she agreed to switch with me.

Thanks anyway to everyone though!

This video really got me thinking about the Cultural Persuadable we talked about in class. I know this man is being subjective, but it helped give me examples of why people are persuaded by their culture, regardless of whether or not it is "crazy". Sorry for all of the swear words, but it is interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaxrQAv1S38
